Description: Volkswagen Academy is a state-of-the-art training facility that, in partnership with Chattanooga State Community College, provides traditional classroom and laboratory instruction with hands-on training opportunities. The Academy serves as the platform for training the Volkswagen workforce in critical and essential automotive manufacturing concepts and equipment with a goal of developing exceedingly well-qualified, technologically literate, and highly skilled workers. Located on the site of the LEED Platinum Volkswagen Assembly Complex, Volkswagen Academy continues the corporation’s strong commitment to the environment. More than 44 percent of the total building materials for the project were extracted and manufactured within the region, and nearly 50 percent were made from recycled materials. More than 92 percent of all regularly-occupied areas in the Academy are day lit, minimizing the need for artificial lighting and decreasing overall energy usage.
