Description: The Jordan Valley Community Health Center was formed in 2002 after nearly a decade of community advocacy. In 2009, the Health Center's leaders began to realize their goal of creating a master health care campus for the communities in the southwest Missouri area with the renovation of an existing building near the area's major highway. The project's sustainable features include infrastructure for alternative transportation options; replacement of much of the existing site's impervious paving with vegetation and porous paving blocks; water-efficient plumbing fixtures; diversion of more than 60% of construction and demolition waste from landfill; inclusion of recycled and regional materials; enhanced indoor environmental quality; an integrated education and outreach program; and implementation of a green cleaning protocol.
