Description: Erin's Pavilion serves as the welcome center and a meeting place within the Edwin Watts Southwind Park in Springfield. The park and the pavilion are designed to be national models for accessibility and sustainability. The park features various gardens, play areas and accessible trails, three buildings, a lake and a wind turbine. The pavilion is heated and cooled via a geothermal system in the lake and features an expansive back terrace for outdoor events. The interior contains administrative offices for the park district, meeting rooms and a large banquet space that can be subdivided into smaller group spaces. The building employs natural daylighting strategies, low-emitting finish materials and environmentally sensitive building products.
