Description: This branch of the FirstLight Federal Credit Union serves the Fort Bliss, Texas, community and provides allocated space for the USO in a joint effort to better serve the soldiers and their families on the base. The building incorporates a large, day-lit entrance lobby with a waiting area and greeter station, private offices, shared teller stations and the USO center, which includes an internet café, multiple gaming stations and refreshment areas, and a theater room. The building employs a wide array of sustainable features including highly reflective roofing material and SRI-compliant paving for the reduction of heat island effects; solar-control, low-emissivity "super" glass; and several strategies aimed at conservation of water, which was a primary concern for the project as Fort Bliss is located in the Chihuahuan Desert.
